The 85th annual Sacramento City Women's Golf Championship will be contested at Bing Maloney Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28, 2020.
The tournament is open to all women amateur golfers with an established handicap index of 34.3 or less. Higher indexes are eligible but will be adjusted to 34.3. The June 15, 2020 GHIN will used to determine eligibility and handicap.
The Championship flight will play at scratch. Confirmation of equivalent ability may be submitted in lieu of a GHIN to establish eligibility for the Championship Flight only. Please contact Sean Wong, Tournament Director, for any eligibility questions.
The Sacramento Golf Council has implemented the USGA Tournament Index rule for handicap flights. In plain terms, the same formula is applied, but only to the players tournament (T) scores. Both use the last 20 scores, with a sliding scale for fewer than 20. Players will play to the lower of their current NCGA or USGA Tournament Index. This is a direct effort to minimize player handicaps that are inconsistent with a player's actual ability.
The entry fee is $125 per player (all past champions pay only $85) and includes green fees for both days and all awards (cart fees and range balls are not included).
The tournament format will be stroke play over 36 holes - 18 on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. The Championship Flight will play after the handicap flights each day. Handicap flights will be determined according to the entries received. Sunday’s pairings will be determined by scores within the respective flights with the Championship Flight teeing off in score order. Ties only for the Championship Flight Low Gross will be decided by a sudden death playoff starting on Hole #17. All other ties will be broken by the recommended USGA method of matching scorecards.
