About the Sacramento Golf Council
The Sacramento Golf Council (SGC) is a one-of-a-kind, and important 501(c)3 non-profit organization in California. The SGC is a volunteer run entity that organizes and directs golf tournaments for the City and County of Sacramento. The SGC conducts 24 golf tournaments annually, bringing together golfers of all skill levels, ages and genders to compete in both team and individual championships. Although many players are from the Sacramento region, golfers will also travel from other parts of California, western states, and some international locations to compete in the championships. Golfers consistently rate the SGC Championships as the best run events in the state.
In addition to tournament management, the SGC is known for its strong community involvement, fostering a love for the game and supporting the growth of golf in the region. The 2024 SGC was proud to offer $10,500 in college scholarships for deserving junior golfers. They were the Peggy Dodds Memorial Scholarships, $3,000 each for a boy and a girl; the SCG Golf Scholarships $2,000; and one $2,500 Morton Golf Foundation Scholarship. The SGC partners with the First Tee of Greater Sacramento and the Morton Golf Foundation to administer and select the junior players for the scholarships. In addition, the SGC conducts five junior events with the mission of keeping the entry fees affordable and accessible to the local junior golfers.
The SGC Events are conducted at one of six golf courses. Each of the six golf courses is very busy and enjoys a steady stream of golfers and non-golfers each day. Guests enjoy each facility for rounds of golf, restaurants, driving ranges, retail stores, lessons and special events. Sponsors can take advantage of the large volume of daily guests at each golf course through sponsor signage and other offerings on site and through dedicated emails. Golfers tend to match the typical demographics for the Sacramento Area, with a slightly higher average income. The sponsors can expect to have the following volume of guests visit each facility daily during the tournament season:
• Haggin Oaks Golf Complex - 2,600 guests daily
• Ancil Hoffman Golf Course - 1,000 guests daily
• Mather Golf Course - 800 guests daily
• Bing Maloney Golf Course - 800 guests daily
• William Land Golf Course - 400 guests daily
• Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course - 300 guests daily
In addition to these guests, the SGC email list goes to 3,000 golfers with nearly 1,000 golfers participating in tournaments annually. Sponsor logos are listed on the SGC website.
