California State Fair Men’s Amateur Championship

Event Mission
The State Fair Men's Amateur Championship is one of the oldest and most prestigious Amateur Championships in the West. Under the leadership of the Sacramento Golf Council, the committee realizes the importance of the Championship in Sacramento, Northern California and the West. The Tournament Committee will strive to conduct the "Premier Men's Amateur Golf Championship in the West" by continuing to provide a professional, experienced committee, tour-like venue and always focusing on the players.

Tournament Format
The Championship is limited to 156 players. 84 of the 156 spots are reserved for players meeting the "exemption criteria" as stipulated under the Exemptions Section of the Eligibility page with the remaining 60 spots available via qualifying. Competition commences over a 54-hole stroke play format with 18 holes played each day. The field is cut after 36 holes to the low 45 players & ties. Ties for the championship title will be settled via a "sudden victory" playoff, starting immediately upon the conclusion of the final round of play from the first tee.

Eligibility
The California State Fair Men's Championship (SFC) is primarily an exempt player event for 156 tournament scratch Amateur golfers, non-exempt amateurs are eligible to qualify via the Sacramento City or County Championships or through the U.S. Amateur qualifying.
