Kaylyn Noh and Lynne Cowan Shine at the 4th Annual Sacramento Valley Women’s Amateur Championship
The 4th Annual Sacramento Valley Women’s Amateur (SVWA) was conducted at the Alister MacKenzie GC @ Haggin Oaks, hosted by the SGC & the HO Team on July 13th & 14th, 2024.
Kaylyn Noh (Rocklin) won the Championship Flight – 139 (-5).
Kaylyn led after the first round, firing a 3 under 69. During the second round, Kaylyn birdied holes #11 and #12 to take a 4 shot lead over Sienna Lyford (defending Champion from Roseville). Kaylyn played very steady golf through the rest of the championship and easily held on to win by three strokes. Sienna Lyford finished second with a score of 2 under, 142. Hannah Harrison (Granite Bay) finished 3rd with a score of even par, 144.
Lynne Cowan (Rocklin) won the Senior Championship Flight – 146 (+2).
Tina Barker shot one under 71 on round #1 and held a 4 shot lead. Throughout the back nine, both Lynne Cowan (Rocklin) and Karen Garcia (Cool) continued to close the gap. Reaching #17 on the second round, all three players were paired together and tied at 2 over par. Lynn made par, while Karen and Tina made bogey. One #18, Karen reach the par five in two and had a 30 foot eagle putt. After two putting for birdie, Karen posted 2 over par, 146. Lynne had a 10 foot birdie putt to win the championship, but the putt slid by to the right. After 4 sudden death playoff holes, Lynne took the title on the par five #4 with a solid par.
Michele Ross (San Leandro) won the Net Senior Championship – 141 (-1)
Michael Ross won the first annual Net Senior Championship with Vickie Philpot (Roseville) coming in second. The Net division was created to encourage more Senior Women to play in the event.
