2024 54th Sacramento County Women’s Championship & Handicap

On July 27 and 28, 2024, the 54th Sacramento County Women’s and Handicap Championship were held at Mather GC, where only 30 women competed. Despite the small field size, the ladies enjoyed the weather and played well. It was very pleasant and resulted in everyone completing the round in record time. We started at 8:06 a.m. were able to complete all the awards by 1:45 p.m.

A special thank you to the team assisting me this year. A special thanks to Larry Glasmire who assisted me with Golf Genius before and throughout the tournament. Also supporting me was Pat Keys, rules official, Jan and Allen Luis for roving, pace of play and everything else, Sean Wong, roving, pace of play and rules support, Peggy Chan and Bob O’Neil, helping with scoring, Mike Fleming announcing on the first tee with Steve Yates backing him up, and Lynda Cassady for handing out water. A special thank you also to the Mather staff, Thomas Wary, Mateo, and the Mather team for their support on the course.

The 2024 Sacramento Women’s Championship was won by Morgan Pittman from Chico with a score of 146. Karen Garcia from Cool played well and shot 147, nearly catching Morgan for a playoff. Megan Paracuelles from Folsom shot 148 for third place and Theresa Shaw from Ensenada was 4th with a score of 149. These ladies played very competitively both days.

The Handicap Division was won by Teresa Garcia (Sacramento LPGA Amateurs), with a net score of 137. A returning former Champion, Vicki Philpott (Roseville LPGA Amateurs) earned 2nd place with a net score of 141. Our 3rd place award went to Esther Garcia, (Fair Oaks LPGA Amateurs) and last year’s Champion with a net 143. In 4th place was Karen Biscaha (Fair Oaks Mather) with a net 144. These ladies were also quite competitive.
