Jackson Turner Clinches Victory at 60th County Men’s in Thrilling Playoff

The 60th Sacramento County Men’s Amateur was played at Ancil Hoffman GC, Carmichael, CA on July 13-14, 2024. 108 players entered the 36-hole event that was blessed with cool mornings and very accommodating July temperatures in the low 90’s.
Jackson Turner and Trenton Stuart both finished at 7 under par. Both players had excellent Sunday scores with Jackson shooting a 67 and Trenton recording a 66. On the 1st playoff hole, Jackson hit an excellent drive just short of the green. He then pitched onto the green and sank a 12ft birdie putt. Trenton too, hit an exceptionally long drive stopping on the fringe of the green. Then, he chose to putt from the fringe leaving himself a 9ft putt to tie Jackson’s birdie … and unfortunately missed the putt. Both players are young with very bright golfing futures in the world of golf. Jackson is starting college this fall at UCSB and Trenton will be a junior in high school.
Note: There were two players finishing at -6 under par and another two players at -5. In total, we had 22 players finishing at par or lower. It was a very competitive field with over half of players having a “Plus” index.
THE SCMA was conducted with volunteers from the Sacramento Golf Council who made the tournament happen. A “BIG” Thank You to Larry Glasmire, Mark Perry, Tom O’Neil, Bob O’Neil, Rhea Harris, Allen Luis, David Godinho, Charlotte Wells, Patty Mitchell, Linda Bigler and our rules official Pat Stewart.
