GONZALES WINS CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR MID AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Juan Gonzales, Antelope, birdied the last two holes at Bing Maloney Golf Course to add a second win of the 22nd California State Fair Mens Mid Amateur Golf Championship played August 17-18. Gonzalez finished 12 under par, the low gross score of 67, 65, 132. His prior victory was in 2020.

Gonzales was tied with Christian Quint, Loomis, at hole 16. Quint took second place, 66, 67, 133. Domingo Jojola, Carmichael, took third place 68, 67, 135.

Tournament director Sean Wong says, “This mid amateur tourney is defined by players 30 years and older with a 5.4 handicap index or less, although most of this field was below a 3.0.”
