2021 County Women’s
The Sacramento County Women’s Championship was contested at Mather Golf Course on July 17th and 18th. The weather was great both days but got a bit hot later in the day. Pace of play was good both days. All groups finished at just under 4 hours, 30 minutes.
Sienna Lyford captured the championship with a two-day total of 4 under par 140 – blowing away the field by nine strokes. Sienna also won the Sacramento City Women’s championship at Bing Maloney in June. Sienna will start her senior year at UC, Irvine in the fall. Kayla Diaz finished second at 5 over par 149. There was a three-way tie for third place with scores of six over par 150 – Theresa Shaw, Reeya Vasishta and Linette Jun.
Many thanks go to the staff at Mather who did their usual great work getting everything set up each day and the crew of co-directors, Deborah Kanner (will take over as TD in 2022), Mike Fleming (starter both days), Paul Gilley, a Mather course marshal (rules), Charlotte Wells (rover/water on Saturday), Patty Mitchell (scoring on Saturday), Mark Perry (starter assistant, rover, water on Sunday).
