2016 State Fair Masters

2016 State Fair Masters

14th State Fair Masters Championship at Bing Maloney
We had a very solid field this year with a record amount of players under par this past week. In the end, two-time defending champion Ryan Sloane birdied Holes 1 and 3 enroute to a final round 70 to go 13 under par for the tournament.

Robert Hamilton and Chris Johnson also carded two under rounds to finish in a tie for second at eight under par while Jeff Hoffman rounded out the final group with a 71 to end the tournament at 7 under par. The turning point in the match came on the dreaded Hole 10. After Ryan made uncharacteristic bogeys on 7 and the par 5 ninth hole, and Jeff Hoffman and Robert Hamilton made birdies, closing the gap to three strokes, Ryan snapped right back with a snaking putt from the fringe on 10 that backed up into the hole. That birdie seemed to right the ship and no one got within two shots again.

Mike Moreland and Danny Gums tied for the low rounds of the day with three under 69s. We wish Ryan Sloane, Robert Hamilton and Mike Moreland good luck in the mid-Amateur this weekend in Elverton ,Pennsylvania.
