Watanabe Captures 2026 State Fair Women’s Golf Championship

Sacramento, CA – The 2026 State Fair Women’s Golf Championship was
played September 5-6 at Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course.

Sakura Watanabe won the Women’s Championship title scoring 71/70/141. In
2022 she won the Low Net Division as a 13-year-old. She is a senior at
Granite Bay High School and has committed to play for the University of San
Francisco in 2027.

The Low Net Winner in the handicap division was Tyra Jarvis with a 20
handicap scoring 64/67/131.

In the Senior Division, Karen Garcia won with a score of 66/70/136.
Garcia celebrated a hole in one on hole 5 during the first round. She also won
the County Senior Womens Division at Mather Golf Course in July.

The Championship Flight was open to all women amateur golfers with a
World Handicap System (WHS) Index of 6.6 or less. The Senior Division
was open to players ages 50 and older with a current handicap index of 18.4
or less. The competition was 36-hole stroke play.
