Linda DeLong Bio
After growing up in Novato, Linda attended CSU Sacramento and received a bachelor’s degree, majoring in geography and minoring in music, Linda worked for local government in a variety of administrative positions for 32 years.
Linda has been playing golf for about 35 years. She reluctantly started when her husband wanted to take the game back up, but eventually became hooked. During the 1990’s, Linda started playing in Sacramento Golf Council tournaments. She decided that she wanted to give back to the organization, so after she retired, she applied to the Council, becoming a member in 2010. She started running the State Fair Senior/Super Senior in 2011 and has been the tournament director for that event ever since.
Besides playing, Linda has been very involved in many aspects of golf. As the Education Director for EWGA (now LPGA Amateur Golf Assoc), she enjoyed helping new golfers get into the game. So when Haggin Oaks needed coaches for their New 2 Golf Program, Linda signed up. She has also volunteered as rules chair, communications, marketing, and helping with tournaments for the clubs that she belongs to.
Linda is a 2-time Ancil Hoffman Women’s Golf Club Champion. She played in 3 Northern California Women’s Cup matches. And has won SGC Women’s Net, Vintage and Mixed Team championships.
