2024 Sacramento County 4-Ball Championship

The 22nd Sacramento County 4-Ball Was contested at Mather Golf Course on October 19. 20, 25, 26, 27, 2024.
34 two-player teams competed in the 4-Ball qualifier on Saturday, October 19th, with 32 teams advancing to match play. Last year’s champions were not able to defend their title because of a prior commitment. The first round of match play began on Sunday, October 20th. Weather conditions were ideal with light winds and mid-80s temps.
Play continued the following Saturday, October 26th with both morning and afternoon matches. Conditions were excellent again with cool mornings and mid to high 70s in the afternoon. Things got a little backed up for the afternoon matches on Saturday because some of the morning matches went to extra holes, but we were able to complete all the matches with very little daylight left. Four teams advanced to the Sunday, October 27th morning matches. The teams of Landon Abalateo (he aced hole #3 in his Saturday morning match) and Zachary Solomon, and Patrick Cairns and Luke Dariotis advanced to the final match in the afternoon.
The wind picked up for the afternoon match, which completely changed the conditions for the players. The match was very close for most of the front 9. Abalateo and Solomon gained a 2 up advantage going to the short par four 13th hole. Cairns drove the green to about 15 feet. Solomon drove his tee shot into the right green-side bunker. Solomon then knocked his shot from the right bunker into the cup for an eagle. When Cairns was not able to convert his eagle put, Abalateo and Solomon went 3 up. On the 15th hole, Cairns stuffed his approach shot to six inches for a tap in birdie. However, Abalateo sank a 12-foot birdie putt to halve the hole and remain 3 up. Cairns birdied #16 to get his team to 2 down. Both teams parred the 17th hole with the match going to Abalateo/Solomon 2 & 1
