2023 State Fair Senior
The 27th annual State Fair Senior and the 14th annual State Fair Super Senior were held at Mather Golf Course Saturday and Sunday, September 2nd and 3rd. As always, the field was strong with many past winners as well as top senior and super senior players from all over Northern California. For the first time in this event, there was a separate Legends division due to increased entries.
SENIOR DIVISION
Randy Haag (pictured above) won his first State Fair Senior Championship. Randy finished 3 strokes ahead after being tied for 1st with a 68 on the first day of the tournament. He followed up with a 69 on day two for 7 under for the tournament. Todd Barsotti came in 2nd with 70 – 70. James Sewell was 3rd shooting 72 – 70. In 4th place was Chris Johnson who tied the low round of the Seniors on day one with a 68.
SUPER SENIOR DIVISION
Terry Foreman was a first time champion of the Super Senior, shooting 71 the first day followed up with an amazing 66 on day two. Jeff Burda, multiple winner of this championship as well as the Senior, came in 2nd with 69 – 69. Jim Williams, last year’s winner, was 3rd shooting 71 – 70. Jim Knoll, Chuck Richesin and Wade Nonnenberg tied for 4th shooting 143.
LEGENDS DIVISION
Greg Saiki won the Legends Division with 71 – 71. Bob Cook came in 2nd with 73 – 70, just a stroke off the leader. Ron Johnson was 3rd with 71 – 75.
