2023 City Junior Championship

This year’s 87th Sacramento City Junior Championship / Peggy Dodds Memorial was held at Haggin Oaks, July 5-6. Peggy Dodds did not disappoint. This year, AJ Salvetti in the 16-18 boys, carded a 72 on day one, coming back with a blazing 5-under 67 / 139 total to take the Overall Boys Trophy. Timur Alalin tied with Aaron Cheng for 1st Place, with a card playoff going to Timur Alalin, who takes 1st Place, Aaron Cheng 2nd and Ethan Jackson 3rd. Our 7-9 Boys 1st place trophy goes to Rishan Dey carding a 72 with Alex Baca in 2nd, carding a 75. Congratulations boys!

Our girls were also on their games this year! Lexi Booras (16-18 girls) carded a 75/72/147, for a playoff with (14-15 girls) Chelsie Chin 74/73/147. Chin got the toss and teed off first with Booras second. Booras and Chin both parred the first playoff hole. Booras and Chin then hit good drives on the second playoff hole, #18 at Haggin Oaks. Both hit good drives. Chin was first to play and pulled it a little more left than she would have liked near and under a tree left of the 18th green. Chin hit her third shot well but a little firmer than she would have liked. Meanwhile Booras was just in front of the trap on 18 in 2 and proceeded to drop a nice shot onto the green to about 6-8 feet. Chin knocked her next one to about 2-3 feet for par. No need as Booras knocked in her birdie putt to cinch the overall and the Peggy Dodds Trophy. In the (16-18 girls) Sophia Lee and Morgan Pittman tie for 1st place with 150’s with Sophia Lee taking 1st place in a card playoff, Morgan Pittman 2nd and Mia Cho 152- 3rd.
